Yet More iPad Impressions

The iPad. Let’s just take a moment to get over the name.

Naming really wasn’t their forte with this new product.

The iPad has been getting a lot of crap for the past few days by interweb commentators, and its getting downright ridiculous. I mean, really. Its exactly how the iPod was treated way back in 2001. Now look at the iPod! 73% of the market in portable media players. It may not be the best media player, but it gets the job done efficiently and simply.

The iPad was a little underwhelming, yes, but why? Because of reasons like “it doesn’t have flash” and “its a giant iPod touch”. I dunno bout you, but when they debuted it last week, I was cheering them on! I was like, “YES! A GIANT iPOD TOUCH! Fantastic!”

The only things I really get from Flash are videos. I’m not going to attempt at playing something on Miniclip.com . Come on, people, be realistic…. what person is going to try playing a game, meant for a keyboard and mouse, on a touch computer. I guess, maybe, people could make apps on the web specifically for slates, but that’s not really necessary.

I already have over 250 apps downloaded from the App Store, and all of them work on the iPad. Not only that, but I also use iWork, which is essentially the mac version of Microsoft Office, except a lot sexier.

The iPad is definitely not going to appeal to everybody… but there really isn’t any need trashing it down constantly on the internet. It’s either, you buy one, you don’t need one, or you’ll wait till version 2. or 3. or 42.

Same thing happened with the iPod, and look how that turned out. Maybe history will repeat itself…. it’s doubtful, but there’s a slight possibility.

Here is another great article to read. Don’t just knock off the possibilities before you can even consider them in the first place.

..

No multitasking sucks crap though. And they seriously could have done a better job on the name. iPad doesn’t exactly incite the lust I was hoping for.

The iPad does seem quite interesting Rosh, but the situation is the true specs of it.
    - it is running it’s own operating system
    - no USB ports
    - no multi tasking
    - only 64 gigs max
    - stranger apps, causing problems for ipod/iphone users
    - ibook will be a complete failure, because it isn’t quite fun looking into a screen that burns your eyes out. lol

I agree with the no USB ports. It comes with a dongle, but seriously, who wants dongles?
      No multi-tasking sucks too….
      and iBooks.
The thing about iBooks is that, sure, the Kindle and the like are fantastic readers. Easy on the eyes, great battery life. The thing is, the kindle cannot handle photos and special media very well. So while the Kindle has the better experience for the avid reader, my mom, who likes to read cookbooks, can do so in all the glory of a full color display. I’m pretty sure that the forte of the iBookStore isn’t going to be a digital version of “The Hunt for Red October” or “Moby Dick”, but maybe things that are more graphically inclined, Comic books, Newspapers. And they could end up being interactive, giving a larger appeal to the average consumer than to the avid reader.
      That was a long response….
